Shri Ram Mandir
Janmabhoomi of Shree Ram
In Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, a Hindu temple is under construction at the location recognized as the birthplace of Lord Ram, a prominent deity in Hinduism.
The oversight of the temple’s construction is in the hands of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. On 5 August 2020, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the groundbreaking ceremony.
Lord Ram
An incarnation of the God Vishnu
Ram is a revered figure in Hinduism, widely venerated as a deity. As per the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, his birthplace is acknowledged to be Ayodhya. During the 16th century, the Mughals erected the Babri Masjid, purportedly upon the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, the birthplace of Rama, after demolishing it.
Ram Lalla Virajman
The central deity of the temple is Ram Lalla Virajman, the infant manifestation of Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu. Ram Lalla’s attire is crafted by tailors Bhagwat Prasad and Shankar Lal, with Shankar Lal being the fourth-generation tailor dedicated to crafting attire for Rama’s idol. Since 1989, Ram Lalla has been involved as a litigant in the legal dispute over the contested site, recognized as a “juristic person” under the law. Triloki Nath Pandey, a senior VHP leader, has been considered Ram Lalla’s representative, often referred to as his next ‘human’ friend
